3rd post: When she’d run out on Eve and Nyx, she really hadn’t had a destination in mind. Just somewhere that wasn’t there. Wasn’t around all those memories. She knew the looks she was getting from the people out on a late stroll or heading from wherever they had been, but she couldn’t care. Her entire world had just shattered under her, and now she had a house she couldn’t afford and all of her savings down the drain. All for a stupid boy that didn’t love her as much as she’d loved him.
Her parents had warned her. Said the “rock star” type was never one to settle down for long. She’d told them off, told them they didn’t know him, that they would work out and it would last. And now look where she was. Crying on a park bench in the middle of the night, left all alone to clean up all the bills and her own smashed heart.
When someone sat down beside her, she first thought it was one of her friends, chasing after her. But instead it was some man she’d never seen, wild blonde hair highlighted by the moon. She blinked the tears from her eyes as best as she could, and she knew she should be afraid for her safety, but right then she was too numb to care. Let him kidnap, rape and murder her. It would at least make the pain stop.
“Pretty?” she hissed, suddenly so angry at the stranger. “I’m covered in tears and snot and I smell like wine, and you have the balls to call me pretty?!”
Normally, she was sweet. She was a people person. But right then? It was like all her pain turned into rage, and it was all directed at the man.
And then it was suddenly gone, and she felt empty again. Slumping, she sighed and told him, “If you’re planning on doing horrible things to me, can we skip the kind and concerned act and just get right to it? I’m really not in the mood tonight.”

He couldn't help but chuckle. She was right, who was he to just come and call her pretty like that? It kind of seemed like a douchebag thing to do and the next thing he'd be saying was "You should smile" or something like that. But he wasn't going to say that. Sure, it was probably odd to just sit next to her like that but here he was. Soren had made the commitment to at least make sure she was going to be okay so just leaving because she snapped at him would be stupid. So he tried a sad little smile and replied. "Well, women are beautiful and just because they are sad and maybe not photo ready doesn't change that. So yeah. I have the balls to call you pretty."
Soren shrugged, leaning back against the bench, keeping a space between them as he rested his hands in his lap. He took her anger, her pain. He didn't know the pain she felt or why, but he knew what pain felt like and he understood being like that. So he waited until he felt the change come over her. Defeated washed over the woman sitting just down from him.
He let out a sigh, brushing a hand through his blonde hair and tapping his foot against the concrete below him. "If I wanted to do terrible things to you I probably would have already. There probably are people who'd hurt you out here and there sure are enough people staring at you like you've lost your damn mind." His violet gaze turned on her, taking in the sight of the miserable young woman.
"I am concerned, though. People don't just cry like you were over nothing. At first I thought you were some kind of animal when I was walking. Probably a dying animal...I can't stand to see a girl cry, though. especialy not like that, it always means it's something pretty damn bad."

She let out a startled laugh. A dying animal, huh? Suddenly self-conscious and a little jealous of how Nyx always managed to look good crying, Anna shook her head. Eyes shifting to the ring on her finger, she blinked back a new wave of tears. "It's nothing," she wished like hell her voice didn't crack so badly as she spoke.
Because it wasn't fine. It was something she didn't think she'd ever get over, and God, did it hurt. It hurt so bad. Her throat burned and her whole body ached, thoughts black and hopeless. Any other reason, and she'd be so touched some random person would have cared enough to even stop and ask. But right then she couldn't feel anything else.
"I appreciate the concern," she said hollowly. "But really, there's nothing you can do. Don't let some stupid, crying girl stop you from getting wherever you were headed," she added. How did people get over this pain? How did they move on?
It was such a vicious cycle. Every now and again she'd be angry, so angry, that he'd left her with nothing but their unpaid house. And then she'd get stressed and scared, and then so, so upset. Because he was always who she went to when something seemed overwhelming. And now he was gone.
He didn't love her. He hadn't for a while. And she had been too stupid to see it.
Unable to stop the tears, Anna shoved the knuckle of her thumb between her teeth to try and stop the sobs threatening to rip from her throat.

It was sad to see the emotions that so apparently wracked the women next to him. Sure, he was a random stranger and maybe he couldn't do anything. He couldn't hug or hold her without it being weird. He didn't even know what it was that had brought her here and made her like this. But, he also knew that not being able to do something didn't mean you should just give up and not try at all.
If he just got up and walked away from her, it wouldn't accomplish anything and of that he was certain. Staying? Well staying might mean he could convince her to at least go home and get off that park bench. All that illuminated them was a single street light and the park was hardly a home for honest and moral types so late at night.
He chose not to look at her for a moment, not to make her more self-conscious than he could tell she had become. "This doesn't seem like nothing." He then smiled, looking at the chalk drawings the kids must have scribbled on the concrete earlier that day while they played. He would have smiled fondly at the hopscotch course drawn onto the surface in bright pink chalk but seeing her bite her knuckle out the corner of his his caught his attention.
Relaxing against the bench he shrugged again. "I'm not heading anywhere so I've got time and no where to be." Soren glanced back at the hopscotch course then looked over to her. "But you know what the best way to get your mind off things for a while, is? Because you really look like you could use something to get your mind off things."

Part of her hoped he'd leave. She didn't want to be crying this hard in front of a stranger. But she didn't want to be alone, either. It didn't distract her much, but it was better than being left by herself to all her dark thoughts, right? It had to be.
It took a minute to get herself under control again to answer him, but there were tears still falling from her eyes and she knew her makeup was smeared all over. God, what an asshole. Calling her pretty and not leaving her alone when she didn't want company?
"What is?" she asked, voice almost desperate. She wasn't sure who she hated more; him for not giving up or herself for not making him.

Soren's lips pulled into a wide grin. The tall man hopped off the bench, snatching up a nearby pebble. It was smooth and a soft brown color and, as he held it up to show her, light reflected off of it's surface. "A game is always the best way to get your mind off things. Crying is good and it lasts for a while as a good way to get the feelings out but sometimes you just need a damn distraction." He chuckled
What was he really trying to do? Did you normally stop and talk to a girl at this hour who was crying her eyes out and then offer to play hopscotch. Oh well, he was already here and he just couldn't walk away. So here he was standing in front of a bright pink hopscotch grid, grinning like a fool at a girl who'd probably throw that rock at his face.
"See we play this. You ever play hopscotch as a kid? Pretty much, the person who fucks up each round has to tell something about themselves. Can be anything. Even "I think you're really creepy."" Soren laughed, motioning for her to come closer. "I'll give you first go if you want? And I'll tell you a secret...I'm shit at hopscotch."

Anna frowned, wondering again why on earth this man would even bother with her. She hesitantly stood up, looking from him to the pink game chalked into the pavement. As much as she wanted to be left alone, a part of her was even more terrified of actually BEING alone. She already felt so lonely...
"I haven't played since I was a kid," she admitted, shifting from foot to foot. Maybe it should worry her that he wanted to play with secrets as the bet for losing rounds. But what else did she have to do? Cry over a man that obviously didn't love her?
Shaking her head, already decided, she motioned to the chalk drawing with her hands -- the one lacking that stupid ring that she still wore. "You go first," she told him, softly.

"Me first? Alright, well you asked for it, princess." He grinned wide, trying to smile in order to, hopefully, keep her spirits up. He didn't want her to start crying again. Even if she thought he was the weirdest guy on the planet; he wanted her to smile for some reason. Maybe it was just because he was being a nice guy.
Soren toned down his demon strength, took a breath like he were preparing for the toss of his life, and tossed the stone in the box numbered '1'. It landed perfectly and he tossed a grin over his shoulder. The grin was playful like a child's but he didn't care how silly it made him look. He might never see this woman again..and for once he wasn't someone that people pitied and coddled like a child. He was just a guy, playing a childish game.
A guy who just happened to be a demon who was fining it pretty damn difficult to hop on one food. "Woo. Now let's see if I can make it back to the start without busting my ass." Soren laughed, standing on the 10th space before he started his trek back through the diagram. He looked so proud of himself as he picked up the stone and offered it to the pretty girl with the white hair. "Here you go. Your turn."

Anna hesitantly took the stone and rolled it in her hand. She hadn't played this game in so damn long. But it couldn't be that hard, right? She had good balance.
But apparently not good aim, as she tossed the stone and it skidded out of the chalked game. "Dammit..." she grumbled, looking to Soren with an almost glare. "You made me mess up, somehow," she said, and despite the glare her tone was teasing.
She didn't quite want to admit it, but it was nice to have a distraction this simple. Nyx and Eve were her best friends, but they looked at her with pitying eyes and it killed her. This stranger, this guy, looked at her with nothing but amusement at her horrible toss.

Soren watched, hands in his pockets as the girl aimed and tossed the stone. He couldn't help the hearty laughter that fell from his lips at the look that fell over her face. He bit his lip, however, as she turned to give him the mock glare. It was pretty cute, if he were being honest with himself. "I didn't make you mess up. Do I look like a magician?" The demon grinned, wondering what she'd think if she knew.
Instead he eyed her up and down then looked over to the stone. "The question is, do I do the kind thing and give you another go or do I make you spill something about yourself?" His lips pulled into a grin. "I think I'm going to make you tell me something about yourself. It's only fair, after." Winking, he walked over and picked up the stone in his hand, waiting for her to speak.

Anna huffed, crossing her arms under her breasts as she watched him walk across to pick up her horribly tossed stone. She was getting the feeling that despite his claims of being bad at the game, even if they were true, she was worse. It was like always being dumb enough to agree to play strip poker with Nyx and Trent.
"Alright, demon," she rolled her eyes, no idea how true her words were. "Ask your question."

Soren raised a brow, watching her cross her arms under her breasts and her cute face turn to mock frustration. If Only she knew that her words that followed were true. What would she think if she did know? Some humans ran in fear, others froze in owe. Then there were others who were much much more frightening that it either didn't faze them or they turned into creep fans. He didn't think Anna would be the type to fawn over him. To be honest he couldn't see it with any man.
Still, he smiled. "I don't have anything particular I want to ask. Just tell me something about yourself. I don't know like...What's your favorite food?"

Anna bit her lip, more than a little confused. "That's... it?" she asked. She'd thought he'd go straight for more personal questions, like why the hell she was crying her eyes out in the middle of the night on a public park bench. Or half expected him to be a pervert, thinking a distraught woman would be an easy lay.
He could just be trying to get her guard down... but for some reason, she felt like he was trying to avoid thinking about something, too. Maybe she wasn't the only one out at this hour because they had too much on their mind and too much pain in their heart to let them sleep.
It was... a comforting, if depressing, thought, knowing that she may not be alone.
"Eel and rice," she told him, words a little slow in coming, like she was unsure. And then she added, "Covered in hot sauce." It.. was something Rellik had always gagged at, every time she ate it. But then again, he'd frowned disapprovingly every time she ate any meat.

That....was never something you expected a girl to like. He honestly, found himself laughing and giving her a surprised yet amused look. "Eel and rice? Covered in hotsauce? I have to say your palette is a strange one, girlie." He chuckled yet again and tossed the stone Soren thought of missing to give her a chance to save face or ask him something but the last thing he wanted to do was look like he was pitying her. So he didn't.
When it landed he did just what he was supposed to and flawlessly, he might add. Maybe his spins and the tipping of his imaginary hat was a bit to much but he thought it might lift her spirits some. When he made it back to her, Soren dropped the stone in her hand, smiling wildly and brushing his blonde hair back. "Your turn. Don't miss this time."

"Yeah, yeah," she waved her hand. She knew she had odd tastes in food. And in basically everything. After all, she was having fun playing some stupid kid's game with a total stranger. She watched him with an inward groan as he again made his toss, and she rolled her eyes (though she couldn't stop the smile) at his antics.
"You're dumb," she said, curling her fingers around the stone. Maybe this was why she didn't really remember playing this game as a kid. It was a lot harder than it looked. Letting out a breath, she tossed it, and had to bite her lip as a noise of delight almost came out. It landed! Giddy, she hopped to the stone and made it back without and mishaps.
"Heeere you go," she said, presenting it to him like it was some precious gem. He might be winning, but not having to answer another question had her feeling better.
